For all the robot fans – I hope some of you were in my groups at the school today! I think robots are great, which is why I keep writing about them.
The problems robots face are very different to our own – wonky batteries, spare parts, being sold, traded in, junked and recycled – and because they’re supposed to be honest and do what they’re told, it’s very hard for a robot to disobey orders, even to save his or her own life.
Dear Year Ones,

What great imaginations you all have. Imagine how many new books there would be if authors wrote books on all the different things you said you would like to read about. Leila is sitting with me now while I type this.
Best wishes
Leila’s Dad, Mike.
Dear Year One,
What a lovely library you would have if you could have books about all those exciting people, places and animals! I hope you continue to enjoy reading and learning about new things.

With all of your fabulous ideas and creative minds – I think that ‘free-writing’ Friday maybe the start of some wonderful books. Keep up the ideas, the stories, the poems and the illustrations year ones – books can take you anywhere.

To Kailen, Peter, Joshua, and any other James Bond fans,

And keep writing your own stories.

Dear Year One,
How I enjoyed reading all your enthusiastic thoughts on the types of books you like! Books can take you to different places in different eras, on all sorts of adventures with many characters and all of these, including ghosts, fairies and unicorns, can really become part of your lives while reading. They may even stay with you for ever. Books are magical in this way.

Looks like I’ll need to hold on to my aircraft library.
Dear Year Ones in Room 10
Your ideas for books are fantastic!
How many books about dinosaurs and whales do you think we will need? Rosalie School library will have to become VERY large very soon, I suspect!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It was great fun learning about the things that interest you all. You are such a clever group of Year Ones.
