Welcome to the 2008 Rosalie Writers Festival
The Rosalie Writers Festival is all about Rosalie writers - that’s you! The students, families and presenters who make this amazing event happen!
We continue to be bowled over by the support we receive for each festival, and we’re delighted to be welcoming back some familiar presenters complemented by an injection of first-timers.
The 2006 Festival saw Rosalie students scripting and performing a play, learning about journalism, creating a book in a day, producing illustrations, listening to stories, writing their own, and generally getting inside the heads and craft of a whole range of children’s authors.
Pictured left is a group of Year 3s (now Year 5s), living as pirates for a day to celebrate a real-live book launch with Ann Morgan.
This year’s theme is ‘Out of This World’.
Presenters are allowed to interpret this however they like. From an organisers’ perspective, it frees us to move beyond the boundaries of traditional writing into other worlds.
As well as a focus on science fiction, myths and legends, it gives us the opportunity to incorporate other genres and writing media, such as graphic novels, blogging, writing for the web, and script writing.
We hope to free up the children’s imaginations too - to take them on a journey that allows them to fly.
Parents and Teachers please note:
In the lead-up to the Festival, students can submit writing to appear on this site, and anyone can submit blog posts. Click on the flying book in the sidebar to find out more.

The presentation by Jamie Edis, for the pre-primary students was awesome.
Congratulations to Jamie, for keeping these small children on task for a whole hour. They thoroughly enjoyed your book , the animations and the life sized puppet. The children were absolutely delighted, it was a joyful way to start the day.
It was wonderful to hear so much laughter!!
Thanks Jamie!!

I loved what I saw of the Rosalie Writers Festival. What an awesome series of events to get kids inspired about story telling in its many different forms. And I love being able to access the blogs online, what a great website. Well done Rosalie and OM4!!!
