Festival Events
Keep an eye on this page. We will add to it as more information becomes available.
Festival Launch
The Festival will be launched on Tuesday 20th May by Tim Gossage, Channel Ten’s sports director.
A tasty brekkie will be served first, at 7.30, followed by a performance by Year 4 students (written by the students with a bit of help from script-writer, George White) and the official opening.
We’d love to see everyone attend - place your orders before or after school from 13-16 May.
Pizza Lunch
The ever popular Pizza Lunch will take place again this year on Wednesday 21st May - a great opportunity for everyone to come together and chatter about the Festival.
Place your orders before or after school from 13-16 May - outside the school office.
Parents’ Night
On the evening of Wednesday 21st May, parents are warmly invited to come along to school and meet some of the Festival presenters over a glass of wine and finger food.
Our speaker will be Kate McCaffrey, author of Destroying Avalon and In Ecstasy.
Kate will talk about cyber bullying - the central issue of Destroying Avalon.
You can find out more about cyber bullying in Kate’s blog, and we will be offering parents the chance to purchase the book at a discounted price so that you can read it before you hear Kate speak.
The Festival Bookshop will be open during the evening, and Kate will be available to sign copies of her books.
There will be a raffle too - first prize a weekend for 2 at the fabulous Caves House, now Seashells Resort Yallingup. If you’re not in it, you can’t win it, so get your tickets now - on sale now outside the school office, before and after school on 13-16 May.
At just $10 each, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better-value night out anywhere in the world.
Closing Celebration
Our Closing Celebration at 2.30 on Thursday 22nd May will feature highlights from the Festival.
Pete Humbert will work his famous magic with an audio-visual presentation of images capturing the spirit and energy of the event, and the Celebration will be hosted by popular Festival presenter, Jon Doust.
Although there’s a picture of Jon here, the real stars of the show will be the students - Jon will make sure of it.
All parents are invited to join the Celebration.
Festival Bookshop
The Well Bookshop, Shenton Park, is sponsoring the Festival by running the Festival Bookshop and donating a proportion of sales to Rosalie Primary School.
The Bookshop will be open in the undercover area during the Festival Launch, the Parents’ Night and the Closing Celebration.
Authors are willing to sign copies of their books when they are in school - so be ready to ambush your favourite author with your copy of their latest book … and don’t forget your pen.
