About the Festival
The Rosalie Writers Festival was conceived back in 2003 by a group of parents at Rosalie Primary School, and supported by the School’s P&C. No other government primary school – as far as we knew – had ever run a writers festival.
The first festival, in 2004, was a roaring success, and we enjoyed massive support from a whole range of authors and presenters.
But the benchmark for our success was the children who discovered – or rediscovered – the joy of reading and writing.
About our Supporters
We are now into our 4th festival, and continue to receive support from authors, presenters, teachers, Rosalie P&C and the local community.
In particular, our first festival was sponsored by The Well Bookshop in Shenton Park, and the Well is supporting this year’s festival too, by setting up a Festival Bookshop to run at the school during our three major events, and donating a portion of the proceeds to the Festival.
We are also once again enjoying tremendous support from Fremantle Press, who are liaising with presenters and supporting two of our authors this year – Kiri Falls and Jon Doust.
Our other major sponsor is OM4, a Shenton Park based company that specialises in business websites. OM4 generously created this website and provides hosting at no charge.
This year’s Festival logo was created for us at no cost by Glide Creative, and once again we have received a generous discount on the printing of our Festival Programmes from Charleston Print.
This year we are offering local businesses the opportunity to ’sponsor an author for a day’. Any businesses interested in finding out more should get in touch by using the form below. We would like to acknowledge the support of Edgar Idle Wade, Blake and Jane Duffield of The Property Exchange and Hames Sharley.
We have also received ‘author for a day’ support from Rosalie parents Nigel and Ali Warne, plus others who have donated anonymously. This Festival wouldn’t be possible without you.
Just as important to the success of the Festival are the many parent volunteers who give up their time to organise events and support presenters. Parents who would like to be involved in this year’s Festival should contact the organising committee by filling out the form below:
