About the Festival
The Rosalie Writers Festival was conceived back in 2004 by a group of parents at Rosalie Primary School, and supported by Rosalie Primary School P&C. No other government primary school - as far as we knew - had ever run a writers festival.
The first festival was a roaring success, and we enjoyed massive support from a whole range of authors and presenters.
But the benchmark for our success was the children who discovered - or rediscovered - the joy of reading and writing.
Pictured left is a scene from a 2006 Festival production, which was the result of the children’s own script-writing.
About our Supporters
We are now into our third festival, and continue to receive support from authors, presenters, teachers, Rosalie P&C and the local community.
In particular, our first festival was sponsored by The Well Bookshop in Shenton Park, and the Well is supporting this year’s festival too, by setting up a Festival Bookshop to run at the school for all 3 days.
A percentage of proceeds received at the Bookshop will be donated to Rosalie School. And the Well have also been proactive in helping us to liaise with Fremantle Press, decide on the books to stock in the Festival Bookshop, and arranging a discount on copies of Kate McCaffrey’s Destroying Avalon - a key text for the Parents’ Night.
To date, our other major sponsor is OM4Business.com - an online marketing business that provides free blog-enabled websites to small businesses, with free hosting - the Rosalie Writers Festival site is an example. OM4Business.com is also writing, editing and managing the Festival site content.
Just as important to the success of the Festival are the many parent volunteers who give up their time to organise events and support presenters. Parents who would like to be involved in this year’s Festival should contact the organising committee by filling out the form below:
