One of the most exciting things about Rosalie Primary School is our biannual Rosalie Writers Festival.
It is the only one of its kind at a primary school in Western Australia. For three days our students immerse themselves in the world of writing – meeting authors, illustrators, poets, song writers, storytellers, journalists and more. The Festival is a stimulating launch pad for young minds to explore the joys of writing.
Our 2012 theme is Words in Action – because words are not dead, nor dull, nor static.
We are putting them into action using all forms of writing – fiction, factual, fantasy, epic, history, journalism and blogging…to name just a few.
Right here on these pages you can check out some of the action happening in our midst.
About our supporters
The Festival is a true community event. This is our fifth festival and it is run by a dedicated group of parents and teachers – with lots of community support. The Festival couldn’t happen without our partners.
This year we thank the City of Subiaco for generous financial and in-kind support, and Fremantle Press who have helped us secure an exciting array of speakers/presenters, as well as supported our Year 4 students to design Book Trailers.
We are also grateful to the Lane Bookshop for supporting our festival bookshop and Office Works Subiaco for arranging our program printing. Lawley’s Bakery are kindly supplying the writers morning tea and lunches during the festival.
In addition to this, our raffle has been generously sponsored by The Beauty Studio and The Suite.
The Writers’ Festival logo has been designed by Graham Clarke from Glasshouse Apps.
We also rely on help from many parent volunteers during the Festival. The Rosalie Writers’ Festival is a wonderful example of how a whole community works in partnership to benefit the school community.
